CONCENTRATED MEDIA POWER IS METASTASIZED CANCER INSIDE THE FOURTH ESTATE
BREAKING NEWS: The concentration of media power is metastasized cancer inside the Fourth Estate. The root cause: the FCC and Congress allowed the “Rule Against Cross Ownership” to be destroyed. This metastasized cancer presents itself as: neutral (about the truth?) and balanced (providing a platform for over talking liars to lie). The effects of the concentration of power are visible and audible 24/7, and constitute the leading cause of Hillary being considered untrustworthy. This disease is further evidenced by Trump and his vicious “political hit people” being allowed to spew forth overt lies that require no fact checking, but are not shut or shut down. On CNN and on MSNBC Trump and his paid supporter’s lies are termed “controversial statements.” Really?
The FCC kicked off getting rid of these rules in 1975 – https://www.wcl.american.edu/journal/lawrev/26/dillon.pdf – and this was followed by years of lobbying to get rid of any restraints on cross ownership power – culminating in an article from the Heritage Foundation (always against the public good) in May 2008, praising the demise of Rules Against Cross Ownership. Overt liars require the silencing of the liar’s microphones – shut them down! The lack of the will and courage of all the hosts who do not silence the liars and call out the lies is unforgiveable, as it is destroying the fabric of our Republic. The media/Press’ disingenuous abhorrent lack of defending truth is a material controlling issue in Washington’s gridlock, in allowing 47 Senators to attempt to ruin a Deal with Iran to stop work on their nuclear bomb, and in providing a platform for bigots of any stripe to fulfill their new mission of “balance.”
This fallacious fictitious disingenuous dangerous crap about balance has given life to all the Republicans who vote in lockstep against the public good — because all the KKKristians have been against the sitting President of the USA due to his complexion. Obama ruined America, is their shill cry. How? Merely by sleeping in the KKKristian nation’s white house.
And then there are the misogynists against a woman becoming President. So do not think The Great Birther’s slogan – “Make America Great Again”… is not code for: NO BLACKS OR WOMEN IN THE WHITE HOUSE and fodder for all the bigots of every ignorant stripe.
If the media/Pres fulfilled its role in our Republic as envisioned by our founding fathers which they protected in the Constitution then the goal of the Press would be to: “OBJECTVELY CREATE INFORMED PUBLIC OPINION.” And the money unleashed by Citizens and the lies would not be as consequential, as the public would be better informed and less confused by all the lies. Lies must be called out as they occur and the liars removed from access to public airwaves.
Restoring Rules Against Cross Ownership is more critical to the survival of our Republic than getting rid of Citizens. Restoring the Free Press means getting rid of the concentration of the power of the few (who are essentially sociopathically greedy Republicans and one Brit), to get rid of the personal slants of 6 men that own about 90% if all media outlets.
If more independent journalists could operate from within their own principles and not be subservient to their owner’s unfettered, unmitigated sociopathic self-interest – and not live in fear of being dismissed for not towing the line, knowing there was nowhere else to work, the pundits who have been a conduit for liars would be confined to Fox.
